Hair Extension Aftercare

So your hair feels as amazing on day 90 as it did on day one.

Your hair extensions are a luxury investment and with the right care, they’ll stay looking flawless between fittings. Below is your full aftercare guide to ensure your natural hair stays healthy, your bonds remain secure, and your extensions look beautiful for as long as possible.

Maintenance Appointments

  • Maintenance/refit appointments are essential every 6–12 weeks, depending on your method and hair type.
  • These appointments include removal (if needed), bead re-tightening, bond checks, and reapplication of extensions.

Adjustments

  • Small issues (e.g. a bond feeling tight or uncomfortable) can be adjusted free of charge within 7 days of fitting.
  • After this period, adjustments may incur a fee, as issues are likely due to lifestyle, styling, or aftercare.

Client Aftercare Responsibilities

To protect your investment, you agree to follow the recommended aftercare routine. This includes:

Washing & Products

Use only extension-safe shampoo and conditioner, free from sulphates, parabens and silicone.

Never apply conditioner directly to the roots or bonds, as this can cause slipping or breakdown.

Drying & Styling

Dry roots thoroughly after every wash, leaving roots damp increases the risk of matting or slipping.

Avoid placing heated tools directly on the bonds, tips, or rings.

Use a heat protectant spray before styling and avoid excessive heat.

UV exposure and heat can alter extension colour over time. This is especially important for lighter shades. To help protect your investment, always apply a UV and heat protection spray before using styling tools or being in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Brushing & Sleeping

Brush with a soft bristle or loop extension brush, starting at the ends and working up gently.

Brush daily and always before washing, bed, or swimming.

Tie hair in a loose braid or ponytail at night to prevent tangling while sleeping.

Lifestyle Considerations

Avoid sleeping with wet hair.

Protect hair in chlorine or salt water by using a protective treatment or tying hair up.

Do not leave hair in tight buns or ponytails for long periods, especially during the first 10 days after fitting.

Important Notes:

Slippage, tangling or damage may occur if:
  • You don’t follow the aftercare or attend maintenance appointments
  • You use incorrect products or apply heat directly to bonds
  • Hair is pulled, tugged, or tied up too tightly
  • Colour changes (e.g. toner or heat) are applied to the extension hair
